Almost a month after a first visit to Beirut - following the destructive and deadly double explosion in the port of the Lebanese capital, on August 4 - the French president is back in Lebanon, Monday August 31 until Tuesday September 1.
During this twenty-four-hour trip, Emmanuel Macron intends to further increase the pressure on the Lebanese leaders, which he urges to set up a unity government as well as a reform program. He also met Lebanese singer Fairuz, considered the greatest living Arab singer.
Emmanuel Macron also announced on Tuesday that he was ready to host in October, in Paris, "an international support conference with the United Nations", in order to raise new funds for Lebanon.
