France re-closes schools less than a week after it opened, as dozens of students were infected with Corona

The French authorities decided to close some schools less than a week after opening them, after about 70 Corona cases, linked to schools, appeared, according to a report by the American CBS News.

Some schools opened last week and 150,000 high school students returned to their classes on Monday after the government eased closure restrictions.

But French Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blancker, sounded the alarm, and told French RTL radio that the return put some children at risk of infection.

Blanker did not specify whether the 70 cases were detected among students or teachers. But he stressed that the affected schools would be closed immediately.

French media reported that seven schools in the north of the country have already been closed.

France reopened some 40,000 nursery and primary schools last week, with classes designated for 15 students. Plancker said then that about 30 percent of the children had returned to school.

The French authorities have reported 142,411 injuries and 28,108 deaths in their territories, the latest statistics for 19 Coved-19 victims on their soil.
