Trump refuses to impose quarantine on US states because of the Corona virus

After announcing his desire to put New York and two other states in quarantine, the US president returned and on Saturday abandoned the idea that had not received the support of the governor of New York.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday abandoned the idea of imposing a quarantine on the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, after he had earlier touched on this hypothesis in the face of the Corona virus.

Trump said he had asked the Centers for Disease Control, the National Health Authority, to issue a "firm" statement that would prevent movement into or out of these states, without that meant closing their borders.

France 24 correspondent Mohammed Al-Wafi reported that the idea of placing New York in quarantine was rejected by New York State Governor Andrew Como, who considered it not to be applicable from a legal point of view in addition to being very harmful to the American economy.

It is worth noting that the state of New York is the most affected in the United States, with 52,318 injuries and 728 deaths.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump announced the possibility of New York being quarantined. He expressed his desire "that New York be placed in quarantine as it is a hot spot." But Trump indicated he did not know how to implement this from a legal standpoint.

It is noteworthy that the number of deaths from the Corona virus in the United States exceeded two thousand on Saturday, while the number of infections rose to more than 120 thousand, according to a statistic of Johns Hopkins University.

The United States recorded 121,117 confirmed cases of the virus. The number of deaths on its territory, which reached 2,010, has doubled since Wednesday when it had crossed the threshold of a thousand deaths.
