Corona Virus: The Italian authorities are expanding quarantine throughout the country

Italy announced on Monday the expansion of restrictions imposed since Sunday on the movement of citizens and their communities in the north of the country to include all its lands, according to a decree issued on Monday evening that will come into effect at dawn on Tuesday "with the aim of curbing the spread of the Covid-19 virus." Schools and universities had been closed throughout the country. Until March 15, and it will continue to do so until April 3. For its part, the World Health Organization warned that "the threat of the epidemic is very real."

The exceptional measures imposed on it by Sunday, a quarter of the Italian population as a result of the outbreak of Corona virus, will be applied to the whole country as of Tuesday dawn. The Italian government has expanded the restrictions imposed on the movement of citizens and their communities to include "the rest of the country," according to a decree issued on Monday evening aimed at "reducing the spread of the Covid-19 virus."

These measures include, in particular, limiting movement between regions and preventing gathering, in addition to canceling all sporting events "whatever their level or type", except for those organized by international institutions.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte paved the way for the decree with a press conference held at the Government House on Monday evening, during which he called on his citizens to "stay with their homes." In firm tone, Conte said, "I will sign a decree that can be summarized as follows:" I stay with my house. "There will no longer be a" red zone on the peninsula "(...) the whole of Italy will become a protected area."

For this reason, the Prime Minister stated, "I have decided to immediately adopt harsher and more effective measures," stressing at the same time that these measures will not include "limiting joint transportation, in order to ensure the continuity of" economic activity in the country "and to enable people to go to their business" .
